Tyson Fury kept true to form by launching into another singalong with his loyal followers after knocking Dillian Whyte out at Wembley on Saturday night.
The Gypsy King made light work of his fellow Brit, sending Whyte to the canvas with a devastating right uppercut in the sixth round of the historic sell-out clash. A record 94,000 fans packed into Wembley Stadium for Fury's homecoming as Whyte finally got his shot at a world title.
Whyte surprised many by coming out in the opening round in a southpaw stance, with the initial exchanges between the two fighters cagey. But Fury quickly asserted his dominance, with Whyte resorting to holding and leaning on his opponent.
It was Whyte who suffered the first notable damage after an accidental clash of heads saw him sport a nasty gash above his right eye, before he then caught Fury with a stray forearm, prompting his rival's brother Shane to throw water at him from ringside.
The scenes suggested the bout could soon turn into a real scrappy affair, but Fury put paid to any prospect of an upset with his fierce uppercut which sent Whyte sprawling to the canvas. From there Whyte tried in vain to get to his feet, only to stumble into the ropes as the referee waved off proceedings.
Fury and Whyte both embraced after the bell, before the former hinted: "This might be the final curtain call for the Gypsy King." It was then that born entertainer Fury grabbed the mic and started a rendition of Don McLean's classic song 'American Pie'.
Fury has belted out the popular tune previously and it even formed part of his extravagant ring walk entrance earlier in the night, where he strolled to the ring draped in the colours of the St George's cross.
After the fight, Fury said: "Dillian is a warrior and I believe he will be a world champion. One of the greatest and, unfortunately, he had to fight me tonight. You are not messing with a mediocre heavyweight, you are messing with the best man on the planet.
What should Fury do now? Retire? Or who should he fight next? Have your say in the comments below.
"This man, SugarHill [Steward], has made the man I am. He has made me the biggest boxer in the heavyweight division. I promised my wife that would be it after the [Deontay] Wilder fight. But I got offered a fight at Wembley and I owed it to the fans. What a way to go out."
Fury's wife Paris added further fuel to the fire of her husband's potential retirement, telling talkSPORT: "The world has seen him reach the pinnacle. He's just proved it again, the top quality that he is.
"I don't enjoy this one bit. This is great, the celebratory bit. But all the lead-up and actual fight is a horrible situation to be in. He's got nothing else to prove in the whole world."
