Tyson Fury sends message to England football team after World Cup exit

Tyson Fury has sent a message of support to the England team after their disappointing World Cup exit at the hands of France on Saturday night.

The world heavyweight champion is a big supporter of his national team, being spotted on multiple occasions celebrating major English wins. He had even planned to attend the fixture with France in Qatar, but was unable to travel due to having a live event booked in Glasgow on his nationwide speaking tour.

But after hearing of the result, which was compounded by Harry Kane's last-ditch penalty miss, Fury took to social media to send a message to the team, as well as fans. He implored supporters to be patient with the players and stay as a team, instead of turning on anyone in particular.

Starting the post with a hashtag for mental health awareness, Fury said: "Hold your heads up lions. We Go Again England. Support Our Team. Support Our Boys. Support Our Team. In Victory and In Defeat." He also added the famous Rocky Balboa quote "It ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."

Fury walked out to the famous England football song 'Three Lions' by The Lightning Seeds with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner for his last fight with Derek Chisora. The singalong anthem's chorus is the notorious "it's coming home" chant, which has remained over decades since the song was first released.

He and Chisora attracted a crowd believed to be around 50,000 to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their fight earlier this month. The bout wasn't particularly competitive, with Fury dominated from the first bell and beginning to hurt his opponent from around the sixth round before it was mercifully stopped in the tenth.

Fury is now on track for an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk in the early part of next year, with the pair believed to be heading to the Middle East, similarly to this World Cup. Qatar is an option as a host country for the fight, but it's more likely that the bout lands in Saudi Arabia, where Usyk just defended his titles against Anthony Joshua in a massive-money rematch.
