Tyson Fury was filmed consoling an Australian boxer after their first professional loss this week, with the Briton telling Campbell Somerville: “I’ve had faces like this many times.”

Somerville was 3-0 heading into his fight with Isaias Sette on Wednesday (24 May), but the bloodied and bruised 26-year-old suffered a fourth-round TKO loss in Melbourne, as his corner threw in the towel.

WBC heavyweight champion Fury, who was present to support his teammate Joseph Parker, then consoled Somerville backstage at the Margaret Court Arena.

“This is the fight game, my friend,” said Fury, 34. “Sometimes in boxing you win some, [sometimes] you lose some.

“Even if you win, you sometimes get busted up,” added the unbeaten Briton. “I’ve had faces like this many times. You just come back and keep doing what you’ve got to do.

“Let’s take a picture together, eh?”

New Zealand heavyweight Parker fared better on Wednesday, stopping Faiga Opelu in the first round of the main event.

Meanwhile, Fury’s next fight is yet to be confirmed However, the manager of Demsey McKean revealed this week that talks are under way between the unbeaten heavyweights.

Fury last boxed in December, stopping Derek Chisora in London to secure a third win over his fellow Briton, 39, and retain the WBC title.
