Tyson Fury's trainer explains threat posed by fellow champion Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury's trainer believes Oleksandr Usyk's "mobility" makes him capable of defeating the 'Gypsy King' in an undisputed fight.

The WBC heavyweight champion defended his title with victory over Dillian Whyte back in April before declaring he had fought for the last time and intended to retire. However, despite vacating his Ring Magazine belt, Fury has confirmed he is willing to put plans to hang up his gloves on hold to fight Usyk for all the marbles, providing the financial offer is suitable.

Usyk recently defeated Fury's rival Anthony Joshua for the second time and showed why he is considered one of the greatest threats to Fury's undefeated record. Sugar Hill Steward, who is expected to guide Fury for a potential battle, believes that the Ukrainian is capable of pulling off victories with his awkward style.

"The threat that Usyk can pose to Tyson is Usyk knows how to win," Steward told SecondsOut, adding: "This is me being honest and I’m almost trying not to answer because I don’t wanna make it seem like Usyk is not a good fighter, which he is. I like watching him. I like the things that he can do. But he can be a threat to anyone, he can be a threat to Tyson just because he knows how to pull out victories.

"That makes it an interesting fight. And he’s a heavyweight. Tyson’s been down before, Usyk knocked guys out before. This is still the heavyweight division, where either man can be knocked down or knocked out. We all know that Usyk has good mobility.

"That’s gonna always pose a trip to anybody, no matter how big you are or how small you are. His mobility and his ability to create so many different angles, so many different lines of attacks, some of them are just made up as he sees them. He just makes and creates them. It’s not just something that’s planned."

Fury previously suggested Isaac Lowe was to become his new trainer in a previous plan to face Derek Chisora, but it is likely he will resume business as usual with Steward. The 'Gypsy King' remains undefeated and has already navigated difficult tests against Deontay Wilder prior to the bout.

Usyk is considered a pound-for-pound great but Fury will likely go into the fight as the favourite due to the significant size difference he has. The 34-year-old believes that is a fair claim and has vowed to beat the unified champion.

"I have no real interest in Usyk," he told talkSPORT. "Some man that nobody can really say his name? A pumped-up middleweight? It’s not my fault he’s gone and battered AJ, some bodybuilder! It’s not my fault that happened twice in a row. They try to compete, but they get beat. It’s some foreigner who nobody really cares about."
