Tyson Fury's promoter dismisses "bulls***" Derek Chisora "gagging" claim

Frank Warren has dismissed Derek Chisora's "bull***" claims he was "gagged" at yesterday's press conference to announce his fight with Tyson Fury.

Warren's heavyweight Fury elected to return from his short-lived retirement to make a voluntary defence against former two-time rival Chisora which is set for December 3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The 'Gypsy King' came face-to-face with 'WAR' to announce the clash yesterday.

And during the media event, Chisora repeatedly suggested he had been "gagged" by the fight contract, claiming that he was not allowed to talk about certain subjects over fear of facing legal action. He said: “I’m buzzing. It’s a great fight, this will be a good fight. I can’t really say much, because they put a gag on me in the contract."

However in a conversation after the fight, Warren told Mirror Fighting there was no clause as such in the contract while being approached by Chisora once again who insisted the same claim was factual. He said: "Bull****, he is trying to hook us up for more money to talk at the press conference. I can't be a**** with him; I am in the Tyson Fury business not the Derek Chisora business.

"It is true I was once part of team Chisora, they both came to me and I got the final eliminator to fight Klitschko. He was coming off of a good run of fights but Tyson did a job on him. I'd never have thought in a million years we would get a trilogy but this is boxing and this is what happens."

Chisora has been known for his antics in the past including wearing tape across his mouth and asking to be paid to talk by promoter Eddie Hearn for his rematch defeat by Joseph Parker last year. Despite the 38-year-old's claim, there was no tension between him and Fury as they joked with each other around the venue.

The pair have come into criticism for making the fight with Fury having already beat Chisora in 2011 and 2014 respectively. Despite admitting he respects Chisora from their prior meetings, Fury has claimed he rates his new challenger higher than Usyk and is eyeing a big KO statement.

"I have offered the big guys the fights and they don't want the smoke," he said. "I rate Chisora as highly as I do Usyk, so I will train like he is the hardest fight in the world. His style has changed but so has mine. I used to jib and jab and now I am a destroyer. So someone is getting knocked out. If he lands a big swing on me I am getting knocked out and vice versa, so the fans are in for a treat."
