Tyson Fury's 2022 fights with Anthony Joshua £15m decision and Dillian Whyte outcome

Tyson Fury could be set for the biggest year of his boxing career after significant developments in the heavyweight scene appear to have taken place.

The Gypsy King has been mandated to defend his WBC heavyweight title against Dillian Whyte but purse bids have been delayed three times and major changes have been reported elsewhere.

Anthony Joshua is now reportedly ready to take £15m and step aside to allow Fury to go toe-to-toe with Oleksandr Usyk in a unification bout, with it likely AJ will then face the winner.

That opens the door for at least two fights for Fury in 2022, the most he's had in a calendar year since 2019, but there's a chance he could take to the ring on three occasions.

Fury's camp have already reserved the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on March 26th, the date they hoped to set a bout against Whyte for, but Whyte's promoter Eddie Hearn has said it's a 'unrealistic' date considering it's now just two months out.

It's also unlikely to be the date and venue for a unification fight with Usyk, due to the short time frame and the fact there are major players pushing to organise the Fury-Usyk fight.

Therefore, Fury could take to the ring in March for his first fight on British soil in years without his belt on the line - with the likes of Robert Helenius and Manuel Charr already named as potential opponents.

A unification bout with Usyk could then follow in the summer, where venues like Saudi Arabia or the United States could push to play host and would pay big money in order to do so.

Then, 2022 could come to a close with Fury finally facing off against Anthony Joshua - as long as he gets the job done against Usyk.

That would close off the year in spectacular fashion, with Fury then potentially facing UFC champion Francis Ngannou in 2023 as he edges towards retirement.
