Tyson Fury Retires From Boxing After Usyk Rematch Loss

Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk, left, celebrates alongside fellow boxer Daniel Dubois after winning the WBA, WBO, and WBC world heavyweight title fight against Britain's Tyson Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,

British heavyweight Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing in a video posted on his Instagram account. This decision comes just a month after his loss in a rematch with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk. In the video, Fury expressed his gratitude for his boxing career, stating that he has enjoyed every moment of it. He concluded his announcement with a cryptic reference to Dick Turpin, an infamous 18th-century English highwayman.

Fury's retirement follows his defeat in the rematch with Usyk, where he lost by unanimous decision. Usyk landed 179 of 423 punches thrown, while Fury connected with 144 of his 509 punches. Fury admitted to making mistakes in the fight, particularly in his showboating, which may have contributed to his loss.

This is not the first time Fury has announced his retirement, having done so previously on his 34th birthday in August 2022. Despite previous retirements, Fury returned to the ring shortly after. With a professional record of 34 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, Fury's only defeats have come at the hands of Usyk.
