Tyson Fury retirement theory branded 'crazy' by Gypsy King US promoter

Tyson Fury's promoter Bob Arum has suggested fans would be crazy to believe that the Gypsy King will retire after his win over Dillian Whyte this past weekend. Fury confirmed his intentions to retire from boxing after his knockout victory against Whyte on Saturday night.

Fury put in another outstanding performance on at Wembley Stadium, dominating Whyte throughout the sixth round as he kept the Body Snatcher in his range, working his jab before flooring his opponent with a swift and stunning knockout.

Speaking to talkSPORT afterwards, Fury said: "I've been in this game for 20 years, I'm 34 in a few months. This is definitely the end of the Gypsy King and I went out with a bang. Tonight was amazing but this is the end." It would bring an end to one of the greatest careers in boxing history - retiring with 32 wins and one draw in his 33 fights.

Whilst Fury has confirmed to numerous outlets that he will retire, his American promoter Arum has poured cold water on the claims. Speaking to USA Today, he said: "No, he definitely won’t retire. Of course not. Are you crazy?"

Speaking to the media in his post-fight press conference, Fury doubled down on his intentions to call it a day. He said: "I am gonna go home with my wife and kids and become the second heavyweight after Rocky Marciano to retire undefeated - the two time ring magazine champion of the world. I was unbeatable at this game.

"I will not rule out exhibitions - I want to have fun and entertain. Big Francis Ngannou was here today - he's on my hitlist. Boxing ring, octagon, boxing gloves or UFC gloves - let's make it happen."
