Tyson Fury has said he would relish the opportunity to box Dillian Whyte at a sell-out Wembley Stadium for his return fight on British soil.
The WBC heavyweight champion has not fought at home since 2018 and is set for a first title defence in April since beating Deontay Wilder in their trilogy fight back in October.
And Fury said: “If it was Wembley Stadium, it would be a very special moment for me, very special. I am told it will be somewhere in Britain.
“It has been a while. I have been busy cracking America and taking over out there. I have been successful but now it is time to come home and give the fans a well-earned fight at home.
“Dillian Whyte is the chosen opponent, he is the mandatory so he has to sign the contract and then we will get it on.”
Whyte has another 10 days to sign the contract but is fully expected to do so in the coming days following a lengthy spell as the WBC’s mandatory heavyweight challenger.
Brixton-based Whyte has not spoken since a deal was done for the fight. Despite his rival’s silence, Fury said: “I am not too concerned about why Dillian is not talking. That is not my business and not my concern but I suppose he knows what is coming.
“He has got to deal with a ferocious thunderstorm. I am looking forward to it and will not underestimate the guy. I will give him all the respect he deserves and, at the end of the day, he is mandatory, ranked No1 by the WBC for a reason and I will do my best to get in there and do what I do.”
Fury also poured cold water on a potential meeting with Anthony Joshua, predicting his fellow Briton would lose again in his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.
“Anthony Joshua is a washed-up bum these days,” said Fury. “He has lost two fights and, when he fights Usyk again, he will lose a third fight and then he is finished and done for.”
