Tyson Fury has been refused entry into the United States.
Englishman Fury – who once publicly thanked Kinahan for helping to organise a multi-million euro face off against Anthony Joshua – was refused permission to board a flight from Manchester to the United States at midday yesterday.
Sources said the decision was taken by US authorities because of his former connections to Irish mob boss Kinahan, 44,, who now has a $5 million bounty on his head.
Fury was refused permission to board the plane – and a few hours later was seen at a major boxing bout in Liverpool, around an hour away from Manchester Airport.
His representatives did not respond to a request for comment last night.
The refusal to allow Mr Fury, 33, enter America comes as the States leads a worldwide crackdown on the Kinahan cartel.
The Americans want to close the cartel down and have offered $5 million for information leading to the prosecution of Daniel, his father Christy, 64, and brother Christopher, 41.
The Americans have also hit the Kinahan men and four allies with economic sanctions – and banned them from travelling on US airlines.
US authorities have also slapped a no travel to America order on some 600 people – even though most of them have committed no crimes.
They are barred from America because of links or former links to Kinahan – and it now appears Mr Fury, the world’s best heavyweight, is on that list.
The barring of Mr Fury comes just weeks after boxer and TV pundit Matthew Macklin was also blocked from entering America because of his one-time relationship with Kinahan.
Mr Macklin, who like Mr Fury is not involved in crime, set up the MGM gym with Kinahan in Marbella, southern Spain.
Both men later renounced ownership of it and it became MTK – although boxing boss Bob Arum has claimed Kinahan controlled the now defunct fight organisation.
But former world middleweight title contender Macklin was stopped from boarding the plane on the instructions of US authorities due to his past association with Kinahan, who he once described as his best friend.
Other figures from within boxing have also been denied entry to the US over recent months due to their connections or past links to mob boss Kinahan.
