Tyson Fury makes appeal to Manchester United over Derek Chisora fight

Tyson Fury says Manchester and not Cardiff is his preferred destination for the third and final bout of the Fury-Chisora trilogy.

Fury, 33, announced his retirement in April after knocking out Dillian Whyte at Wembley, claiming he had not got "anything more to give".

However, the WBC heavyweight world champion took to social media on Tuesday to announce his return to the ring, citing the lure of becoming “the first heavyweight champion in history to have two trilogies” as his motivation.

As reported in the MEN, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium was expected to play host to the fight which is slated for December.

That now seems in doubt, with Fury and Isaac Lowe, who the Wythenshawe-born fighter revealed as his trainer earlier in the week, releasing a video arguing for Old Trafford to stage the bout.

"Me and Isaac have been brainstorming all morning after a great training session," Fury told fans. "This fight with Chisora should be in Manchester, in my opinion at United's football ground."

Lowe backed his longtime stablemate up, saying: “Definitely because obviously he is the king and he has already been back in London.

"So it's only right that he comes back in his hometown of Manchester and nowhere else better than Manchester United's football ground. It's the 'Theatre of Dreams' and the king is coming back."

United supporter Fury has long angled for a stadium fight in his native Manchester and may have more control over the fight with Chisora. ESPN reported that the offer to the Finchley fighter was sent via Goldstar Promotions, the company that handles Fury's meet-and-greets across the UK.
