Tyson Fury jokes his dad John, 57, could fight on undercard after body transformation

Tyson Fury has joked his dad John could fight on the undercard of his world title fight against Dillian Whyte after the 57-year-old posted a picture of his body transformation.

Fury will look to defend his WBC heavyweight title against mandatory challenger Whyte on April 23 at Wembley Stadium.

The fight will mark Fury's first in the UK in four years after signing a $100million deal with Top Rank in 2019 that has meant his last five fights have all taken place Stateside.

John has been unable to attend any of Fury's fights in the US because of a grievous bodily harm charge dating back to 2011.

He was sentenced to 11 years after gouging out a man’s eye in a brawl, but only served four years and was released in 2015.

After John posted a recent picture of his newly improved muscular physique, Fury joked he could fight on his undercard.

“It will be good to have him around. I could probably get him on the undercard for how hard he still trains," Fury told reporters.

'Gypsy John' retired from boxing in 1995 after suffering consecutive knockout losses and finished his career with a record of 8-4-1.

With Fury's clash against Whyte taking place in London, John will be able to watch his son compete in a world title fight for the second time.

He was ringside for Fury's upset win against Wladimir Klitschko in which he ended the Ukrainian's reign to win the unified heavyweight titles.

John told Whyte to stop playing "mind games" as he waited until the deadline approached to sign his contract to face Fury.

Whyte will earn 20 per cent of the record-breaking £31million purse bid for the fight, meaning he will take home a career-high £6m.

Fury sent multiple videos mocking Whyte for not signing his contract sooner but has since shown respect for his rival by starting a social media blackout to concentrate on his training camp.

"I'm about to go off social media completely eight and a half weeks, going into training camp to give Dillian Whyte all the respect in the world that he needs," he said.

"l train for him like he's Muhammad [Ali] and Bruce Lee for this camp, I'll never underestimate anybody in my life.

"I'll give this man all the respect he deserves coming as the number one ranked WBC heavyweight challenger in the world today.

"Please don't phone me, call me, email me, text me or try to contact me in any single way because I am out of bounds until May."
