Tyson Fury has backed Jack Catterall in the ongoing row following his controversial split decision defeat to super-lightweight world champion Josh Taylor.
Scottish fighter Taylor retained his unified belts over the Chorley boxer in Glasgow last month, in a judges verdict which was widely condemned across boxing and is now the subject of a British Board of Boxing Control investigation.
Catterall was devastated by the decision, which he claimed “stole” his “dreams”, and has received the support of WBC heavyweight belt-holder Fury.
“I think the judging these days is a disgrace,” he told BT Sport Boxing. “I think they need a good kick in the arse for it.
“They can't change the decision now and they've absolutely destroyed Jack Catterall's life and career. It's disgraceful.”
Fury is set to fight Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April - a fight which he has called for no British judges to oversee. The 33-year-old has instead demanded “proper, experienced, judges who will do the right thing”.
Taylor initially rejected the prospect of a rematch against Catterall but is now open to the idea, if it takes place at welterweight.
“My future is at welterweight,” he stated. “Jack Catterall deserves another title shot, and as soon as possible. I’ve never ducked a challenge in my career, and I’d be happy to fight Jack again, but it would have to be at welterweight.
“Jack is a great sportsman, a helluva fighter, and deserves every bit of the admiration he’s been receiving.”
