Tyson Fury's co-promoter Bob Arum has stated that talks are taking place with Oleksandr Usyk regarding a unification bout, in what would be a major shift to the heavyweight scene.
Fury has been mandated by the WBC to defend his belt against Dillian Whyte, while Usyk will face off once again against Anthony Joshua in a rematch of their September bout.
However, Arum has said that there is significant push from the Middle East to get the unification fight up next - which would see both Joshua and Whyte step aside.
The Middle East was set to play host to Fury's clash with Joshua last summer, before plans fell through, and clearly still want to be the venue for a unification bout.
That has left the current situations in 'chaos', Arum has said, admitting that he doesn't know who Fury will face in his next bout.
"It is total chaos. What’s happening is just promises coming out of the Middle East about doing a unified fight with Usyk and Fury, and is Dillian Whyte gonna step aside," he told TalkSport.
"And people that have absolutely no contractual ties – like Frank Warren’s Queensberry and our Top Rank do – are getting involved.
"It’s a typical terrible kind of situation, but hopefully it’ll get sorted out and probably it will get sorted out with a purse bid on Friday."
Asked who Fury will face next, Arum added: "I have absolutely no idea. Who are these people in the Middle East? And what’s their backing and all of that stuff? That’s not clear.
"All I know is that the contract with Tyson Fury is with Frank Warren’s Queensberry and Top Rank. Nobody has talked to us about buying out rights or getting our permission to go ahead."
