Tyson Fury hailed as "biggest puncher in boxing" ahead of Dillian Whyte title defence

Tyson Fury has been hailed as the "biggest puncher in boxing" by his trainer Sugar Hill Steward ahead of his all-British showdown with Dillian Whyte.

The 'Gypsy King' will make a second defence of his title at Wembley Stadium against mandatory challenger Whyte on April 23. He will be looking for another huge stoppage after ending his trilogy with Deontay Wilder with a penultimate round KO last year.

His trainer Steward - who will be present in his corner - has praised Whyte's punch power but believes there is no match for the heavyweight champion on current form. "Yeah, Dillian Whyte has a chance. He can punch, he's a tremendous puncher," Steward told Boyle Sports. "He's almost got as many knockouts as Tyson Fury. The only real difference if I’m really being honest is Tyson Fury is the knockout King.

"He dethroned the previous knockout king, so that makes Tyson legitimately the knockout king. He's the big puncher in boxing now, the same way he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko, he dethroned Deontay Wilder by knocking him out - giving him a taste of his own medicine - twice.

"That makes Tyson legitimately, factually the biggest puncher in boxing. You can't become the biggest puncher in boxing if you don't take out the bigger puncher. We've seen Dillian Whyte's punching power over the years, he's no different than these other heavyweights are.

"Everybody has a chance in the heavyweight division, that's why it's the most exciting division. Everybody wants one heavyweight to hit the other heavyweight and them to go down. That's it. That's what the heavyweight division brings. That's what the heavyweight division is about. It's about that one punch knockout at any given time, it can happen.”

Fury has added a new aggressive element to his game since being under the stewardship of his new trainer, and has made his own knockout vow after breaking cover on social media last week. A war of words has yet to break out between the heavyweight pair with Whyte opting to remain silent on the fight after issues involving the contract.

The champion was forced to face off with a poster of his rival after Whyte failed to show at the previous press conference promoting the fight. However the 'Gypsy King' has admitted that he plans for his fight with Whyte to be his last in the sport.

"I haven't got a lot left in me but the old dog has still got a got a couple of big fights left in him," Fury told the Pat McAfee Show. "Think of all the hard work I won't have to do, I will drink alcohol and get f***** up.

"I have been in boxing over 20 years, I have a lot of wear and tear but I am the undefeated two-time heavyweight champion. [I want to join the] special elite members-only club; there has only been one person before me to retire unbeaten and that is the great Rocky Marciano."
