Tyson Fury could 'throw millions' at Morecambe FC after being offered chance to buy club

Tyson Fury has revealed that he has been offered the chance to become owner of Morecambe FC, with the undefeated WBC Champion eyeing the opportunity following his sponsorship of the League One side.

Fury has recently purchased and taken over the club's gym and trains out of the facility in his hometown. He also followed in the footsteps of Ed Sheeran in sponsoring the club's shorts but could take his involvement a step further with the fighter revealing to TalkSport that he could take ownership of the club.

Fury was on Jim White's TalkSPORT radio show alongside regular guest Simon Jordan to promote his upcoming fight against Derek Chisora and at the end of the interview took his opportunity to ask for advice. Jordan was Crystal Palace chairman between 2000 and 2010 before the club administration.

Fury still took the opportunity to seek the counsel of the outspoken Jordan, he said: “Quick question, I’m thinking about buying Morecambe Football Club, they’re in League One at the moment." He added. “So I was thinking I invest X amount of millions in them.”

J ordan quipped about the financial reality of owning a club, joking: “By invest you mean throw it at them, invest is the wrong term.”

However, Fury remained serious about the claims, replying: “Yeah, basically throw it at them and keep them going up." He continued. “I’ve been offered to buy Morecambe Football Club.

“I own all the training facilities anyway and the training gym. So who knows? You might be looking at a football club owner.”

He then joked when provoked about his knowledge of football club ownership and how to make a 'small fortune' by Jordan, comparing it to boxing, saying: “Start off with a bigger one! It’s the same as being a boxing promoter.”
