Tyson Fury confirms Dillian Whyte fight date as he begins social media blackout

Tyson Fury has started his social media blackout as he goes into the training camp for his world title clash against Dillian Whyte.

The domestic rivals made their WBC title fight official today as mandatory challenger Whyte finally signed his contract for the clash with heavyweight champion Fury.

Many fans were concerned Whyte would turn down the fight over pay issues, but he waited until the final hours of Monday morning to sign on the dotted line.

In the last of many videos targeted at Whyte, 'The Gyspy King' gave a sarcastic response to Whyte signing the deal that will earn him the biggest purse of his career.

Fury has now paid respect to his rival by giving up all social media platforms until their fight, a tactic the heavyweight champion usually sticks to before any of his bouts.

"I'm about to go off social media completely eight and a half weeks, going into training camp to give Dillian Whyte all the respect in the world that he needs," he said in the video with a caption confirming the fight will take place on April 23.

"l train for him like he's Muhammad [Ali] and Bruce Lee for this camp, I'll never underestimate anybody in my life.|

"I'll give this man all the respect he deserves coming as the number one ranked WBC heavyweight challenger in the world today.

"Please don't phone me, call me, email me, text me or try to contact me in any single way because I am out of bounds until May.

"Have a fantastic time, I'll see you all at the press conference. I'll be training away, please appreciate my privacy and space. Until the press conference guys, I'll see you all soon. Peace out."

Fury's promoters, Frank Warren and Bob Arum, won the purse bid to host the fight last month with a record-breaking £31million bid.

'The Gypsy King' will receive 80 per cent of the purse bid as he looks to defend his title for the second time whilst Whyte will take home 20 per cent.

The world title clash will likely take place at Wembley Stadium, which will mark Fury's first fight in the UK since 2018.

Fury signed a $100million deal with Top Rank in 2019 and has since put an end to his rivalry with Deontay Wilder, knocking him out in their trilogy last October.

The 6'9" giant had entered step-aside talks with Anthony Joshua to allow 'The Gypsy King' to fight Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed clash.

But talks of the fight collapsed and Fury opted to face mandatory challenger Whyte instead, who has been waiting for his shot at the WBC belt for over 1000 days.
