Tyson Fury ‘can not wait’ for homecoming as Dillian Whyte fight confirmed

Tyson Fury has sent a message following confirmation of his WBC heavyweight clash with Dillian Whyte.

The fight was confirmed after Frank Warren won the purse bid in Mexico City on Friday, beating off competition from Eddie Hearn.

“Queensberry and Top Rank are delighted that WBC and lineal world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will defend his titles against Dillian Whyte following today’s purse bids,” read a statement from Warren.

“A venue and date for the fight will be announced in due course.”

Both Manchester and Cardiff have been mooted as potential venues and the bout must take place before April 29.

Fury, who beat Deontay Wilder to round off a stunning trilogy between the two back in October, has not fought in the UK since beating Francesco Pianeta at Windsor Park in Belfast in August 2018.

Posting a video on Twitter after the news broke, Fury said: “Very happy guys. Purse bid - big GK’s coming home! Can not wait. Me and Dillian are going to put in on the line.”
