Tyson Fury AXES Dad John Fury From Corner For Usyk Rematch

Tyson Fury’s head coach SugarHill Steward has confirmed that John Fury won’t be in Tyson’s corner for the Oleksandr Usyk rematch on Saturday as ‘The Gypsy King’ axes his dad from team.

Tyson Fury Axes Dad John Fury From Corner Team

Fight night is edging closer and closer. The highly-anticipated rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury is just days away, with all eyes on this iconic heavyweight rematch.

Usyk of course came out on top in their first fight back in May, with ‘The Gypsy King’ aiming to right the wrong of the first fight and avenge his sole defeat, this time as an underdog with the best boxing betting sites in the UK.

Fury was beaten by spit decision by his heavyweight rival, with Usyk becoming the first undisputed world heavyweight champion since the great Lennox Lewis in the 1990s.

On the night back in May, Tyson Fury‘s corner team came under a fair amount of criticism, particularly Tyson’s dad John Fury. Andy Lee confirmed several weeks ago that this time around it would only be head coach SugarHill Steward talking in the corner.

However, now it seems that John Fury won’t have a part to play in the corner of ‘The Gypsy King’ at all. This is after SugarHill Steward confirmed in a fight week interview with DAZN that Fury’s dad will not have a part to play on fight night in his son’s corner between rounds.

SugarHill Steward Confirms John Fury Won’t Be In Tyson’s Corner For Usyk Rematch

With confirmation from SugarHill Steward that John Fury will not feature in Tyson Fury‘s corner on fight night, this has got the boxing world talking.

For the most part, fans feel this is the right call from Fury’s team, with there being far too many voices trying to talk to Tyson at once during the first fight.

Whether or not that was one of the main reasons as to why Oleksandr Usyk won the fight or not remains to be seen. However, this time it will solely be SugarHill bellowing instructions to ‘The Gypsy King’ during the fight and in between rounds, not John Fury.

Time will tell if this decision makes a difference or not to Tyson Fury in the ring. If it does, it could be a master stroke from Team Fury. If not, then John Fury might feel hard done by that he wasn’t able to give his son instructions in the biggest fight of his life.
