The Manchester-born star last took to the ring in October 2021, where he defeated Deontay Wilder in the third of their trilogy fights.
He is set to take on Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium next month.
It is uncertain why the superstar was seen in the small Merseyside market town, but locals were more than happy to see him as he visited a coffee shop on the High Street.
Owner of Mamma J's Coffee House, Amanda Jackson, told the ECHO : "It was all so exciting, we were definitely very star struck."
Brother Tommy rose to wider fame starring on Love Island's 2019 series where he met partner Molly-Mae Hague.
As the few lucky enough to catch the stars took to social media to share their pictures, those less fortunate were devastated to have missed out on the chance for a snap with the boxers.
One tongue-in-cheek comment said: "They could have called at mine for a brew and a custard cream!"
