Tyrrell Hatton What’s In The Bag? 2024 Update

Tyrrell Hatton What’s In The Bag? 2024 Update.

Tyrrell Hatton What's In The Bag?

Tyrrell Hatton has established himself as one of Europe’s leading players, picking up big titles on both the DP World and PGA Tours. In early 2024, the Englishman made the decision to join LIV Golf – so let’s take a closer look at the clubs he will be hoping brings him more silverware on the new circuit. He's not one for chopping and changing a great deal, and very much a 'If it ain't broke' type of player...

Driver

Hatton teed it up at the Dubai Desert Classic in January with the Ping G430 LST driver (10.5° degree head lofted down to 9.1°) with a Mitsubishi Diamana TB 60TX shaft. This low spin driver (LST stands for Low Spin Technology) was awarded five stars in our testing; it does a very good job at balancing distance with consistency and, with its high-tech looks and powerful feel, is one of the best golf drivers on the market.

Fairway Woods

Hatton has two Ping fairway woods in the bag, both Ping G430 Max models. He has one with 14° of loft, which has a Mitsubishi Diamana TB 70TX shaft, and another with 21° of loft, which has a Mitsubishi Diamana PD 80TX shaft. The latter is his seven wood, which in the past, he has highlighted as his favorite club in the bag.

The Ping G430 Max fairway wood is one of the best fairway woods on the market. It's a long, yet easy-to-use, model, with superb versatility and high launch characteristics. Meanwhile, a new carbon crown gives this fairway the looks to match the playing experience.

Irons

Hatton currently plays two different Ping models: the Ping i230, from 4-6 iron, and then a Ping Blueprint S in 7-iron to pitching wedge. In the past, the Englishman has carried a utility iron, but it’s believed that he usually only does so when playing links courses. In terms of shaft, he uses the Nippon N.S. Pro Modus 3 Tour 120 X.

During testing, we found the Ping i230 irons, one of the best irons for low handicappers, to be a reliable and versatile model that can hit all the shots with a surprisingly high margin for error given the compact size. They also produce a lively, stable feel with good distance and stopping power for competent players.

Wedges

As well as his standard Ping i230 pitching wedge, Hatton carries three more wedges in his bag: two Ping S159 wedges (midnight) are new to the bag, with lofts of 50° and 54°. His 60° model is a Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks Proto wedge.

Putter

Hatton’s current choice of putter is a Ping Vault Oslo putter. Grip-wise, he uses Ping PP58 +6 wraps. This is a mallet design he has had in the bag for a number of years, seemingly more than happy with how it performs.

Ball

Hatton is a Titleist golf ball loyalist, using the Titleist Pro V1x. It's been one of the best premium golf balls money can buy for many a year, and one that received five stars in our review. In testing, we were particularly impressed by the improved ball flight in the long game, which didn’t come at the cost of any short game control or feel.

Apparel/Shoes

Hatton has worn FootJoy shoes in the past, but he now wears Adidas Codechaos shoes as well as Adidas apparel. “Extremely comfortable and I've absolutely loved wearing them. It's been the best golf shoe I've ever worn to be honest,” he said of his footwear.
