A Co Tyrone man has spoken of his pride after hiking to Everest base camp last week.
Ciarán Conway, from Cranagh near Plumbridge, took on the Nepalese mountain range as part of a fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis Northern Ireland.
An engineer at local company Terex, the 33-year-old trekked to the base camp of the world’s highest mountains after a nine day exhibition.

Ciarán told MyTyrone it was the first time he had ever attempted a climb as high as that, and it proved to be a major challenge.
“It was my first time ever doing a climb like this, I had done the Mournes and things like that before it was the first time attempting something at that level.
“The experience was unbelievable and I would definitely advise anyone with a certain level of fitness to go for it.
“It was a nice thing to have done for myself as I was able to push myself to my limit, it was an amazing experience to be a part of.
“It definitely shows how dangerous it can be up there, even for myself I found it tough with the altitude at times.
“The guides with us were brilliant at keeping us acclimatised.”
Ciarán’s mum Jacqueline and sister Michelle both suffer from the lifelong condition which affects the brain and nerves.
“My mother and my sister both multiple sclerosis so I decided to raise the money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Northern Ireland..
“In total I raised more than £3,000, my mum and my sister are both really proud of what I achieved and it will be going to a good cause.
“I would definitely like to go back again and see if I can go even higher over the next few years.”
