Tyrone GAA suffer blow as Lee Brennan opts out of squad

Tyrone have been dealt a blow with the news that attacker Lee Brennan has opted out of their squad.

Brennan, who shot three points in the 2018 All-Ireland final defeat by Dublin, has seen very little game time this year.

The Trillick sharpshooter didn’t feature in last year’s All-Ireland winning campaign.

And he now becomes the sixth player to leave last year’s all conquering squad following the decisions of Tiernan McCann, Mark Bradley, Ronan O’Neill, Hugh Pat McGeary and Michael Cassidy to opt out.

Back in 2015, Brennan played a key role in helping Tyrone win the All Ireland under-21 title in a team managed by current senior bosses Fearghal Logan and Brian Dooher.

Brennan kicked 0-7 on his inter-county debut against Queen’s University in the McKenna Cup.

In fact his last championship appearance came in the 2018 All Ireland Final when he came off the bench that day to contribute three points.

The following May he left the panel but returned last January after Logan and Dooher replaced Mickey Harte at the helm.

Brennan has made 33 appearances for the Red Hands, including seven in the Championship and 14 in the League, contributing 3-84.

He has been one of the top forwards in club football within the O’Neill County for the last decade, helping his club win the County championship on two occasions.
