Tyron Woodley offers to fight KSI as YouTube star names Swarmz as new opponent

UFC legend Tyron Woodley has offered to fight KSI after Alex Wassabi was forced to pull out with concussion.

British YouTuber KSI was due to take on Wassabi on August 27 but his American rival has now been replaced with rapper Swarmz who has never fought before. Boxing fans took to social media to vent their anger at the choice of opponent for KSI's first fight in three years.

And Jake Paul, who offered to replace Wassabi, has revealed former UFC welterweight champion Woodley is willing to step in at three weeks' notice. Woodley has been beaten twice by Paul, including by stunning KO in their rematch last December.

Paul first revealed Woodley would be willing to fight KSI when answering criticism of his own decision to fight the MMA star. "KSI just tweeted me for fighting Tyron Woodley at three weeks' notice, basically saying he's an old UFC guy, trying to discredit my opponent," he said

"But KSI, I guarantee you would never fight Tyron Woodley and he's ready to step in and fight you at three week's notice. So if he's just some old UFC guy you're trying to discredit, why not fight him instead of some no-name opponent you're about to put in? Because you won't do it."

Paul then showed a message he sent Woodley which read: "Yo Tyron, my fighter has a concussion and has to pull out against KSI. Would you fight KSI in three weeks?" Woodley replied simply: "Yes". Paul then followed up his call-out after KSI had named his new opponent, tweeting: "Tyron Woodley is ready to take the fight on three weeks notice. But the DUCK KSI wants an easy fight."

KSI took to social media to defend his choice of opponent, tweeting: "Just want to say that at the end of the day, the one of the main goals of this first fight was to get rid of ring rust. I wanted to prove to myself that I’m a better boxer than I’ve portrayed in the past. If you want to see, fine. If not, fine. I’m still doing it anyway.

"There are still many good fights on this card that I’m excited to see. We are the only YouTube boxing event happening this summer. We’ve had many things try to disrupt this event but still we stand. This is a long term play, and I’ll happily take a small L now for a Big W later."
