Tyrod Taylor compares Jets to Giants: ‘Refreshing energy’ here

Veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor spent the past two seasons backing up Daniel Jones for the New York Giants, which meant he saw plenty of field time.

In his two seasons with the Giants, Taylor appeared in 14 games with five starts, completing 64.9 percent of his passes for 1, 399 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also rushed for 267 yards.

This offseason, Taylor decided to find a new home without actually moving. He signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the New York Jets, where he’ll back up future Pro Football Hall of Famer, Aaron Rodgers.

Although the scenery is all the same, Taylor feels there is better energy in the Jets’ locker room compared to the Giants’.

“This is no disrespect to (the Giants) or anything, but when coming in here and being around the guys for Phase One, it was refreshing the energy throughout the locker room,” Taylor said, via the Jets’ official website.

“On the field, just is different. I’ve been on a couple of different teams and I’ve gotten a chance to feel that out for a couple of different teams. I think we’re in a good space. There’s only room to grow and I think everyone obviously wants to be a part of something special, but it’s about putting in the work. That’s what we’re focusing on.”

Taylor didn’t elaborate on what makes the energy better but the Jets are believed to be in a more competitive position than the Giants despite their underwhelming 2023 campaign, which was played without Rodgers.

The Giants, meanwhile, continue to flounder and appear caught in a perpetual cycle of rebuilding — something that may be taking a toll on the locker room.
