Tyreek Hill Says Commanders’ Coverage on His First Touchdown Shows Lack of Respect

Tyreek Hill is accustomed to most NFL teams using an extra player in the secondary in an attempt to slow down his speed and big playmaking ability each week.

However, in Week 13, Hill finished with five receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns that included a 78-yard strike against man-to-man coverage in the first quarter of the Dolphins’ 45–15 victory against the Commanders (4–9) on Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field.

Although the All-Pro wide receiver said he was not surprised to see the Commanders in man coverage against him, Hill views it as a sign of disrespect. But he also sees a green light to take advantage of an opportunity to dial up an explosive play for Miami.

“…Those guys [Commanders] are great at what they do and they also get paid,” Hill said about Washington’s defense, per Barry Svrluga of The Washington Post. “But at some point, it’s like, man. I don’t know, man. I just appreciate it. Thanks for not respecting me, I guess.”

Verderame: NFL Week 13 Recap: Tyreek Hill on Pace for 2,000 Receiving Yards

Hill remains on pace toward his goal of eclipsing 2,000 receiving yards this season. Currently, the 29-year-old has caught 93 passes for 1,481 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 15.9 yards per catch. He only needs to average 103.8 yards per game in each of the Dolphins’ next five games to reach his milestone.

The Dolphins (9–3) earned their third consecutive win and will return to Week 14 action against the Titans (4–8) on Dec. 11.
