Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is determined to become the NFL’s first wide receiver to surpass 2,000 receiving yards as he heads into the 2023 season.
Hill, one of the league’s most dynamic wideouts, finished with career highs in catches (119) and receiving yards (1,710) in his first season in Miami. For the All-Pro receiver to reach the milestone by the conclusion of the ’23 campaign, he would need to register 117.6 yards in each regular season game.
As Hill enters his second season in South Beach, he told NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe and Charles Davis on Inside Training Camp Live Wednesday that achieving the feat requires him to do all the little things well in preparation for the moment.
“The quarterback play that we have is amazing, as you can see Tua [Tagovailoa] has been delivering, I feel like, all training camp, and the way that our head coach and our OC design plays for us is ridiculous,” the 29-year-old Hill said. “My job is really easy; I just got to stay healthy… keep my attention to detail and just know where to be at on the field at all times for my quarterback. Then I’ll be able to make those plays to get where I want to be at, which is 2K.”
No wide receiver has ever eclipsed the 2,000-yard receiving mark. Even more, only two have surpassed the 1,900-yard threshold. That duo includes Lions legend Calvin Johnson’s all-time single-season mark (1,964 receiving yards) in ’12 and Rams wideout Cooper Kupp (1,947) in ’21.
Kupp also led the league in receiving yards, receptions (145), and receiving touchdowns (16) that season. Hill has eclipsed 1,400 yards only twice in his past seven seasons.
