Tyreek Hill had minor offseason knee surgery, Mike McDaniel confirms

When Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was detained and handcuffed earlier this week, he could be heard on body cam footage telling police that he couldn’t sit down quickly because he recently had surgery on his knee.

That revelation, which hadn’t previously been reported, was confirmed by Hill and Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel on Thursday.

“Minor procedure that he makes sure that he takes care of and keeps out of a compromising position as best as he can control,” McDaniel told reporters.

“Just some stem cells injected into my body, that’s it,” Hill said later Thursday. “A lot of people don’t know that because I just be on the low with it, but yeah.”

The procedure didn’t keep Hill from participating in the Dolphins’ offseason program or training camp, although he didn’t play at all in preseason. It also didn’t slow him Sunday when he recorded 130 receiving yards and an 80-yard touchdown reception in a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Only one player in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers’ Jayden Reed, had more receiving yards in Week 1.
