New England Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown missed the Indianapolis Colts game due to a knee and ankle injury, along with personal reasons.
Albert Breer reported that Brown was “habitually late” to meetings. Now, Brown wants to set the record straight with stories about him swirling.
“That’s [expletive]. It’s a bunch of [expletive]. I’m never late,” Brown told MassLive’s Mark Daniels. “Honestly. I’m one of the first ones in and one of the last ones out of the building. If I am late to any meetings or anything, it’s because I’m a grown man and I should be allowed to go to the bathroom. Especially if it’s in between meetings and I’m trying to [go to the bathroom] or if I’m trying to grab something from the training room to be healthier and prepare for practice. It’s a lot of [expletive].
“I’m sure you’re not really used to reporting about losing seasons around here, but that’s the type of [expletive] rhetoric that comes to play. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that all season I’ve been the best player on offense and then when I’m not playing, that [expletive] starts happening.”
Brown has appeared in seven games and started in all of them. He has been a dependable force for the New England offensive line. Pro Football Focus even had him as one of the highest-graded offensive tackles in the NFL at one point.
Trent Brown's 86.6 PFF grade is 2nd-highest among offensive tackles this season and would be a career-high
When asked if this is some of the best football he's seen Brown play in his career, Bill Belichick responded, "Trent's played a lot of good football in his career." pic.twitter.com/Iy3RYDHczk

It’s been a season of whirlwind reports for the Patriots, as they continue to fall in the AFC.
From criticisms of Mac Jones and Bill Belichick to off-the-field issues for other players, it’s been a year of the Patriots being on the wrong end of the headlines. Brown has been a fixture on the New England offensive front for several seasons and has been a dependable veteran in an ever-changing offense.
The Patriots hope that continues to be the case, but given the number of injuries he’s sustained this season, the on-field concerns could far outweigh any alleged outside reports.
