A powerful typhoon, named Shanshan, is currently making its way towards Japan's southwestern islands, prompting weather officials to issue warnings about heavy rain and strong winds expected in the region in the coming days. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that as of Tuesday morning, Typhoon Shanshan was located approximately 130 kilometers east of the southern island of Amami, moving north towards Kyushu with wind speeds reaching up to 162 kilometers per hour.

While no significant damage has been reported thus far, residents are bracing themselves for the anticipated downpour and high winds associated with the approaching typhoon. Japan Railway companies, responsible for operating the Shinkansen super-express trains, have announced potential service suspensions in Kyushu, the main southern island, as well as in large parts of Honshu from Wednesday to Sunday.

In preparation for the storm, fishers in Kyushu have secured their boats to port facilities to minimize potential damage.

As Typhoon Shanshan continues its path towards Japan, residents are advised to stay informed about the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being during the inclement weather conditions.
