Described as an "idyllic spot for a laid-back lunch", one North East country pub has been named among The Guardian's best in the UK for Sunday lunch.
The Beehive, in Earsdon, earned it's place on a list of 30 best pubs for Sunday lunch in the country, with The Guardian praising the pub for its "stunning" setting. Located within a 18th-century former coaching inn on Hartley Lane, the pub features an open fire which creates a cosy setting to dine during the colder months.
But for those who enjoy dining outdoors, The Beehive also offers a large beer garden and 'The Woodshed', which features overhead heat lamps, blankets and double glazed windows, as well as a secret garden. Diners can also enjoy a stroll along the nearby Whitley Bay coastline, providing the perfect Sunday day out.

And it's not just its "stunning" setting which earns The Beehive a place on the list of best pubs for Sunday lunch. The food was also praised by The Guardian, which commended the pub on its "superb" beef and pork mixed roast.
The Guardian's reviewer described how "tender" meat was served alongside "crispy roasties cooked in goose fat, veg, Yorkshire pudding and gravy." They added that the pub also occasionally offers a fish or pie option on the specials board which are "both worthy of investigation".
Following publication of the list over the weekend, The Beehive took to Facebook to share the news. Posting a screengrab of the article, The Beehive wrote: "A proud moment for our Beehive team. Wanting Sunday lunch? We're the place to be in North Tyneside! (Fully booked today though) Thank you! @guardian".
Those following the pub's social media were quick to congratulate the pub. One person wrote: "Absolutely my favourite place to eat. In my opinion there is nowhere better. Lovely staff and the best food around. Thank you guys. You deserve this."
Another said: "Excellent news, well done The Beehive. We visit you from Somerset, with our family who live in the North East." A third added: "Very well deserved. My absolute favourite place!"
