A Tynemouth Hotel is set to reopen for the first time since before the Covid pandemic this autumn.
Around 100 jobs have been promised as the refurbishment of the Tynemouth Castle Inn enters its final stages ahead of its re-opening, with bookings being taken from October 1. Formerly the Park Hotel, the 90-year-old venue closed during the pandemic and was taken over by The Inn Collection Group in April 2021.
The multi-million pound refurb is expected to be completed in September and will bring around 100 jobs to the region. Converting the venue from its previous hotel-style offering, its new look will include a pub and 72 renovated bedrooms overlooking one of the most popular beaches in the North East, Tynemouth Longsands.

57 of those 72 rooms will have a coastal views, while 20 will have a terrace or balcony. Kate Bentley, rooms director at The Inn Collection Group said she was delighted to be taking bookings for the first time in two years.
She said: "We’re creating something that we’re confident people are going to love, whether they are visitors staying with us or just coming to join us for food or drinks and we can’t wait until the site is back to welcoming people through its doors. Its position over Longsands beach is breath-taking and its history within the community is rich and long and we’re expecting this to be one of our most popular sites once the works are completed."
Applications are also opening for several positions at the venue, including general manager and head chef. The Inn Collection Group has recently been named as a new entry on The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list, with applications for the GM role closing on Friday July 7.
