Members of the North Tyneside community are set to take the plunge into the North Sea on Tuesday (8 March) in tribute to women throughout history and their contributions to society.
The event itself, which will take place on King Edwards Bay in Tynemouth, falls on the same day as International Women's Day 2022.
And various celebrations will take place around the world, as a mark of respect to women and their historic global endowments.

Organised by Personal Trainer Cheryl Tanner, a 20 minute warm-up will take place from 6:30am, before locals will head into the cold winter sea to embrace the elements.
And the 32 year old from North Shields behind the event is no stranger to taking the plunge herself, consistently facing the sea once a week since June 2021, to reap all of the lifestyle and mental benefits the experience brings with it.
Speaking to Chronicle Live, she said: "I've been going in the sea since June last year with a lot of females."
She added: "It's a nice little society, a good community. You can just let go, your mind is free and for that moment you're not really stressing about anything or thinking about anything.
"It resets you, you're plugged in and you feel good, and I just find every week we've done this it's been like a drug. A good drug that you go back to because you've needed it.
"You just need the next hit."
As a warm-up for Tuesday's big event, Cheryl and around forty others took the plunge as the sun rose around 7.30am on Sunday, before spending quality time socialising with one another on the golden sands.
Local business Catherine's Cake House joined the event, giving participants healthy home-made flapjacks to boost their energy levels after the dip itself.
Now looking towards International Women's Day, Cheryl insisted that there was no better way to mark the iconic sacrifices and contributions that females have made to society, than to sacrifice their own comfort momentarily in the North Sea.
She continued: "Generally a lot of the clients we have are women who are going through menopause, going through all sorts of difficulties trying to balance their work situations with giving birth to children - all sorts."
She added: "It's about looking at all of the accomplishments people have made, and it's not just generally regarding mental health - there's a lot more than that.
"We want to be assuring people's bodies, their health, their fitness, their hormones that change through our lives as well."
And Cheryl has also turned to social media to spread the message about Tuesday's event.
On her public Facebook group 'New Wave To Life' she released a video message to urge people from all walks of life to get involved.
During the video message itself, she said: "So Tuesday marks International Women's Day, which means there's only one thing to do.
"I'm going to put another free event on - a warm up, sea dip challenge. So if you want to get involved, if you want to support small businesses [and] women, then you need to come into this dip and challenge yourself, and feel absolutely amazing after."
International Women's Day is a globally recognised date, representing and celebrating the achievements of women on a social, economic, cultural and political scale.
The day also calls for accelerating gender parity across the globe, in the ongoing battle for equality between men and women.
