Tyne and Wear Metro trains are set to resume on Boxing Day morning
There are no Metro services at all on Christmas Day. According to Nexus, trains will resume on Boxing Day fom 8am.
A "revised weekday service" will operate from 8am to 8pm on St James (Newcastle) to South Shields and Airport to Pelaw routes.

Metros will also run in the Sunderland area between Pelaw and Park Lane in Sunderland from 8am until 6.30pm, the timetables show.
Pelaw-bound trains from the Sunderland area will head on to Newcastle stations and terminate at Airport. The last train from Park Lane to Newcastle via Sunderland and Pelaw departs at 17.47.
There will be roughly four trains per hour between St James and South Shields, five between Airport and Pelaw and two to three per hour between Park Lane and Pelaw (and on to Newcastle). The last train from Newcastle Airport to Park Lane via Pelaw and Sunderland departs at 16.38.

Although Tuesday December 27 is a Bank Holiday, the Metro will run to a weekday service without additional peak trains.
A normal weekday service resumes on Wednesday December 28.
