Tyler Adams has told his Leeds United teammates to “keep their heads held high” after the defeat at Aston Villa. Jesse Marsch’s side were on top for several spells in the game but failed to capitalise in the final third.
Ultimately, when Patrick Bamford pulled one back on 83 minutes, it proved too little, too late as the Whites travelled home empty-handed. Adams - named United States player of the year ahead of the game - was still his usually-dependable self against Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara in midfield.
The American admitted to feeling a sense of disappointment at the full-time whistle. He said post-match: “Yeah, I definitely agree with that (frustrated not to win). Frustration is probably the first word that comes to mind when describing the performance because, for large parts of the game, I would say we controlled them and it's never easy to come to a ground like this.

“We played a strong opponent, but the mentality of the boys today was really good. We've continued to try and work on some variables offensively and how we can break opponents down. I think we were very confident today and brave on the ball. But yeah, sometimes luck just doesn't go in your favour.”
Adams urged his Leeds teammates to use the performance as fuel ahead of next week’s double-header at Elland Road. Home clashes against Cardiff City and Brentford could serve as the turning point in United’s season.
“It is important to build off this performance now,” he added. “We can't keep our heads down. We have to keep our heads high and continue to build. We have some important games coming up, to win, and continue to search for those three points.”
