Tyler Adams to Chelsea transfer collapses amid Moises Caicedo battle with Liverpool

Chelsea’s move for Tyler Adams has broken down amid the ongoing Moises Caicedo transfer saga.

The 24-year-old will return to Leeds despite Chelsea triggering his £20million relegation release clause and hosting him for a medical.

The USA midfielder may get his move at a later date but is also considered a target for Brighton.

He may yet be pulled into the ongoing drama surrounding Caicedo’s potential move, becoming a possible replacement for the wantaway star on the south coast.

Liverpool remain in pole position to sign the Ecuador international, however, having agreed a British record transfer fee of £111m.

Chelsea haven’t given up on Caicedo, having made a plea directly to the player to reject a switch to Anfield after losing an auction that was set up by Brighton on Thursday.

The Blues hope that Caicedo turns down Liverpool, who are now seeking an agreement on personal terms and need to complete a medical.

Chelsea already have a verbal agreement in place over personal terms and the word of Caicedo and his entourage that he would move to Stamford Bridge.

They have struggled in dealing with Brighton, though, and will have to at least match Liverpool’s bid to re-enter the race.

Brighton would ideally like Caicedo to join Liverpool so they can begin looking at replacements.

But they are also relaxed as they are either set to bank a record fee or maybe even keep their star player, who they believe will remain worth over £100m next summer.
