Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta made it easy for Leeds United new boy Tyler Adams to sign a five-year deal at Elland Road.
Adams arrived from RB Leipzig for £20m earlier this week. Previously, Adams has worked with Leeds boss Marsch during their time together at Leipzig, where the latter coached prior to his arrival at Elland Road earlier this year.
And the 23-year-old midfielder has revealed Marsch, and sporting director Victor Orta made his decision to sign for Leeds an easy one.
"Absolutely," said Adams when asked if Marsch being Leeds boss was a factor in his signing.
"Jesse was a huge influence on my career so far for me. He’s given me a lot of experiences as a young player than other players may not have received so he was definitely a big influence. And also Victor [Orta], the sporting director played a big role in this for me. There was not much convincing he needed to do for me to come here but he had a great plan in place in order for me to develop as a person and as a player."
Marsch isn't the only one who Adams is familiar with at Elland Road either. Leeds signed Brenden Aaronson, who has played with Adams at international level, from Red Bull Salzburg earlier this summer. And as well as knowing Aaronson, Adams has also come up against Leeds winger Jack Harrison during the latter's time in America playing for New York City FC in the MLS.
"Yeah, of course!" Adams said when asked if knowing people at Leeds will help him settle.
"Brenden Aaronson, we play with each other for the national team. Jack Harrison, I’ve had the opportunity to play against him a bunch of times in MLS and he’s a great player.
"They made me really comfortable on the first day, coming into the locker room, having great conversations with them."
