A two-year-old boy who died after being shot at home suffered a car crash on the way to the hospital.
Police were called to the scene in St Petersburg, Florida, US, on Sunday night after a family member tried to drive the boy to hospital when they lost control and crashed into a car.
Emergency services were called and the child was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
However, he was tragically pronounced dead.
Police are investigating what led up to the shooting and the motive behind the attack.
Officers are also speaking to the driver of the car, whose relationship with the child hasn't been released by police.
The tragic shooting comes after a 16-year-old girl was shot dead after a dispute broke out at a graduation party at an Atlanta school.
The shocking incident occurred near Benjamin E Mays High school after a confrontation at around 2.30am on Sunday morning.
Bre'asia Powell was rushed to hospital but tragically died from her injuries.
A 16-year-old boy, who has not been identified, was rushed to hospital but is said to be in a stable condition.
Cops were called to the shooting after a fight broke out at the unauthorised graduation party in the school's car park.
Officers arrived to the scene and found Ms Powell wounded before rushing her to hospital.
Just hours later, a 16-year-old boy walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound. He has not been named by police.
Atlanta Public Schools said in a statement following the incident: "According to Atlanta Police, two teenagers were shot during an unauthorized gathering at the end of the exiting driveway at Benjamin E. Mays High School, early Sunday morning.
"One is deceased and one is being treated at a local hospital.
"The gathering occurred after a graduation party at another location in the community was broken up by Atlanta Police a couple of hours earlier. Please contact Atlanta Police for more information."
A friend of the victim's family, who did not want to be named, revealed there were no prior arguments which led up to the shooting.
He told Fox5: "There were no prior altercations that led to this shooting. There was nothing that Bre’Asia did to cause this, to bring this about, to incite this.
"This was an unfortunate tragedy that has shaken a family and friends circle to its core."
