A TWO-YEAR-OLD Palestinian has been killed by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) in a raid in the West Bank.
Laila Al-Khatib, a young child from the Palestinian village of Muthallat Ash Shuhada near Jenin, was killed on Saturday evening.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that Al-Khatib was shot in the head.
The Israeli army stated that troops had surrounded a house and fired at a building where they believed a terrorist was.
The IDF added that after the shooting, they realised they had hit the child and called for medical help.
The IDF said that the details of the incident are under investigation.
The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the IDF surrounded the house, including snipers, opening fire after clashes erupted in the area.
Another five Palestinians, including a child, were wounded early on Sunday in a separate shooting.
Israel’s military campaign has killed over 47,000 Palestinians, more than half of them women and children, according to Gaza’s health ministry. It does not say how many of the dead were combatants. The Israeli military says it has killed over 17,000 fighters, without providing evidence.
