Two workers rescued after falling into giant tank of chocolate at Mars factory

Two people have been rescued after falling into a giant tank of chocolate at the Mars Wrigley factory in Pennsylvania according to officials.

The two factory workers fell into a waist high vat of chocolate and were unable to get out without assistance.

Fire services were called to remove the duo from the vat.

The Lancaster County 911 center confirmed to USA TODAY that both individuals were taken to the hospital following the incident, one via an ambulance and the other in a helicopter.

The extent of their injuries is unknown.

“Fire crews have eliminated pulling them straight out of a tank,” Brad Wolfe, communications supervisor for Lancaster County 911 dispatch, told CNN.

“They have to cut a hole in the side of the tank to get them out,” he said.

Wolfe added that it’s unclear how the pair fell into the chocolate tank.
