Two women have appeared in court for the first time after a toddler was found unconscious on a day care bus in central Queensland more than two months ago.
Bianca Maree Reynolds, 31, and Tara Alyce Steers, 30, both of Gracemere, appeared in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday, charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm.
Police allege the women picked up the three-year-old girl from a Gracemere residence at about 8:30am on May 4.
They then allegedly drove to a childcare centre in Gracemere, parked the bus and left the little girl on board.
Police said another staff member drove the bus to a school in Lucas Street at 2:45pm and saw the child unconscious in the back of the bus.
The child was airlifted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition, and has since recovered.
Speaking outside the court, Ms Reynolds’ lawyer Allan Grant from law firm Grant and Simpson said his client would not comment at this stage of the proceedings.
Magistrate Jason Schubert adjourned the case until September 14.
Both women remain on bail.
