Two Welsh hotels named among the UK's top 10 new places to stay - and one hasn't even opened yet

Two Welsh hotels have made it to the top 10 list of best new hotels in Britain. In an article published by The Guardian, a beach hotel in Carmarthenshire and a guest house on Anglesey were declared amongst some of the best new stays alongside the likes of hotels in Devon, Isle of Skye and London.

In the review, the travel writer listed an array of stays including countryside havens, Jacobean houses, beach hangouts and a converted chapel among their pick of openings and revamps in 2023. Of that list, Caban, which is set to open this spring and is located on the Pendine Sands on Carmarthen Bay, and Driftwood, which is in the idyllic seaside village of Rhosneigr, were rated as some of the best openings in Britain.

Caban, which is set to open its doors at the end of March this year, has 14 rooms, including doubles, triples and family rooms. The Guardian article notes that it as an all-day bar and restaurant with sea views and is right next door to the new Museum of Land Speed.

It also notes that although many land speed records have been set and broken in the nearby Pendine Sands, the hotel is able to offer "more sedate" activities for its guests, including rockpooling and coastal foraging. On the hotel's website, it vows to be the "perfect space" in which guests can "relax, unwind, and discover the local area".

Meanwhile, Driftwood relaunched its new boutique guest house in December. Despite being open for only a short while, it has already made an impression on the hospitality scene, especially for using and promoting the very best that the local area has to offer. In the article, it notes that the hotel, which has six bedrooms in the main house and an annexe turned into a self-catered lodge, is only a "short stroll" from the beach. The article also points out that the village itself also has a lot to offer, including plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants.
