Two Virginia Beach Police Officers Killed In Fatal Shooting

police

Tragedy struck in Virginia Beach as two young police officers lost their lives in a fatal shooting incident during a late-night traffic stop. Officers Cameron Girvin, 25, and Christopher Reese, 30, were fatally shot after pulling over a car for an expired license plate at around 11:27 p.m. on Friday night.

The officers approached the vehicle near Lynnhaven Parkway and Wendfield Drive in Virginia Beach, where the male driver, identified as convicted felon John McCoy III, became argumentative and refused to exit the car. A physical altercation ensued, during which McCoy produced a pistol and shot both officers, leaving them defenseless on the ground.

McCoy was later found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head in a shed behind the apartment complex, believed to be self-inflicted. Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, with indications that McCoy's possession of a firearm as a felon may have played a role.
