Two 16-year-old boys rushed to hospital after random stabbing at Stratford station

Two teenage boys were rushed to hospital after being randomly stabbed at Stratford station on Tuesday evening.

British Transport Police officers were called to reports of a double knifing on an Elizabeth line platform shortly after 7pm.

They arrived to find two 16-year-olds surrounded by a large pool of blood.

Both were taken to hospital in a critical condition.

A police spokesperson has since confirmed that the pair remain in hospital in a serious condition. They are both stable, though one has injuries which may be life changing.

There have been no arrests but the offenders were described as two white men.

One was wearing red jogging bottoms. The other a black hooded jacket and dark jogging bottoms.

Elizabeth line trains were blocked from stopping at Stratford on Tuesday night due to the incident.

One witness to the scene, Clare Lawrence said on Twitter at the time: “Stabbing on the platform at Stratford, avoid the area as there’s loads of barriers/police now.”

Detective Constable Matthew Aitken, investigating the double stabbing, said: “This was a brazen attack at a busy station, which left two young boys in hospital.

“At this moment, we do not believe the victims and the offenders were known to each other.

“I urge anyone with information to get in touch with us.

“Our officers are on patrol in the area and they’ll be there over the coming days and weeks – so please, if you have any concerns, do approach them.”
