Two teens have been arrested after an 18-year-old was stabbed to death at a Melbourne beach.

The Tarneit man died from stab wounds on December 4 following an altercation in St Kilda in the city's southeast.

Police on Wednesday arrested a 16-year-old Kurunjang boy and a 17-year-old Taylors Hill boy over the incident.

They are yet to be interviewed and no charges have been laid.

Police are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the man's death although it's expected more people will be arrested.
