Two teenage girls arrested after teacher finds folder of 'plans to murder nine people'

Two teenage girls have been arrested after a teacher found a folder allegedly detailing plans to murder nine people, US media reports.

The girls, who have not been named, are reported to have written eight sheets of notes with a list of people they wanted to kill and plans on how to obtain guns and move and dispose of the bodies.

A teacher reportedly saw the girls acting “hysterical” while looking for the folder, with one of them reportedly saying: “I’m just going to tell them it’s a prank if they call me or if they find it”.

The two 14-year-old girls, from Avon Park Middle School, Florida, were arrested on Wednesday and face nine counts of conspiracy to commit murder and three counts of conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

They are both being held in custody, pending a trial hearing.

A Highlands County Sheriff’s Office incident report said the folder, which was reportedly labelled as “Private info”, “Do not open”, and “Project 11/9”, contained plans for “burning and burying" the bodies.

"The plans were written in great detail as to how they would lure the victims, kill the victims, and dispose of the victims' bodies," the report said.

“It doesn’t matter if they thought it was a joke. It’s not a joke,” Scott Dressel, public information officer at Highlands County Sheriff’s Office, said.

"There's no joking about something like this. You don't make a joke about killing people."

Another note in the folder allegedly planned what clothes the girls would wear during the attacks.

“NO NAILS” and “No Hair Showing from the moment we put on our clothes”, it reportedly read.

Vicky Setters, a parent at the school, told FOX 13 News: “It’s scary not knowing if your kid was on that list or not.

“[One of the suspects] was real friendly and everything. They said that it didn’t seem like it would be her, either one of them, they were both real friends and popular in school.”

The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office has now reportedly contacted the families of everyone on the alleged hit list.
