Two people have been taken to hospital after a digger collided with a car and overturned in Newcastle.
Emergency services were called to a collision just before 3pm on Tuesday on City Road. It was reported that a JCB had collided with a Nissan Juke and subsequently overturned.
The road was closed by police officers while other emergency services attended the scene. Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue (TWFRS) confirmed they helped to remove the driver of the JCB from the vehicle using a number of specialist tools. The driver of the Juke was able to remove themselves from the car.

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed that two people were taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for further treatment.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 2.50pm yesterday afternoon to reports of a multi-vehicle road traffic incident on City Road, Newcastle.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews, and three specialist paramedics. Two patients were taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) for further treatment."
A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “At 2.48 pm on Tuesday we received a call requesting assistance at a two vehicle collision on City Road in Newcastle.
"It was reported that a JCB and a Nissan Juke had been involved in a collision. We were on scene in just five minutes and helped medically remove the driver of the JCB from the vehicle using a number of specialist tools.
"The driver of the Juke had been able to get out of their vehicle themselves. Both drivers were left in the care of the North East Ambulance Service and our crews left the scene at around 3.30pm.”
At the time, a spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "At 2.50pm today we received a report of a digger had collided with a car and subsequently overturned on City Road, near the Hotel Du Vin.
“Emergency services are currently in attendance and motorists are asked to avoid the area at this time.
“Walker Road has been closed with diversions in place through Horatio Street and the Quayside. Byker Bank has been closed, with a diversion through Shieldfield and the City Road junction with Crowhall Road is also closed with a diversion through Byker bypass.”
