Two suspected robbers have been named by police after one Tesco store and six Co-op's were raided in 12 days.
Anthony Hollywood, of Stafford Drive and Anthony Carroll, of Longfellow Street, both aged 42 and from Bootle, are being held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.
The pair's arrests follow raids in six Co-op stores in Merseyside, Cheshire and Manchester between Thursday, February 10 and Tuesday, February 22.

The shops raided include Knutsford Road, Warrington, Fylde Road, Southport, Balfour Street, Runcorn, Market Street, Hoylake, Myrtle Street, Liverpool and Clippers Quay, Salford.
A Tesco supermarket was also targeted on Coronation Road in Crosby.
Hollywood and Carroll were arrested on Tuesday, February 22 and were later charged.
They both appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 24 where they were remanded in custody.
The men are next set to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, March 24.
