The Cincinnati Bengals are on to the Super Bowl, which means the team’s two Pro Bowlers won’t be able to take part in the afterthought of an exhibition.
But the Pittsburgh Steelers apparently have some players who can suit up for the all-star event.
After the Bengals beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game to advance to the Super Bowl, the NFL quickly announced that wide receiver Diontae Johnson and rookie running back Najee Harris would replace Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Mixon, respectively, in the game.
No great shock there — Johnson had another strong season with 1,100-plus yards and eight scores and Harris was as advertised for a first-rounder, rushing for 1,200 yards and seven scores with 74 catches through the air.
Still, it’s wow-worthy to see the roles reversed after the Bengals swept the Steelers this year and have now helped a few of their players to the Pro Bowl by advancing to the Super Bowl.
