With this week marking National Picnic Week across the UK, new research has revealed the 20 best picnic spots in the nation.
The sun is hopefully set to make a return later this week, and there is nothing like heading outside and enjoying a good picnic in the countryside. As National Picnic Week will last through until Sunday, there is still plenty of time to chow down on some tasty food outside.
The research, carried out by recipe-box delivery company HelloFresh, scored the UK’s top picnic locations based on a variety of factors. These included the average maximum temperature during the summer months, the total number of views on TikTok, and the average monthly Google searches.
Two Scottish spots were found to be in the top 20 picnic destinations across the UK: the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye and The Helix in Falkirk. The former received an overall score of 56 out of 100, while the latter was assigned a rating of 50.2.
The Fairy Pools, which came in at number eight for the whole of the UK, are known for their vivid aqua blue water and diverse wildlife. According to the experts, the average maximum summer temperature is 16.82 degrees Celsius, while the pools have 11,400,000 view on TikTok and 14,800 Google searches on average each month.
Meanwhile, The Helix Park is the home of The Kelpies, which are the biggest horse sculptures in the world and a top Scottish tourist spot. The research found that the average maximum summer temperature here is 19.11 degrees Celsius, while it has 8,400,000 views on TikTok and 590 monthly Google searches on average.
Senior Recipe Development Manager Mimi Morley from HelloFresh commented: "Picnics are a great British classic, with lots of opportunity to get together with friends and family to enjoy tasty party food in stunning locations - what’s not to love.
"Create your favourite summer meals this National Picnic Week, whether that be delicious salads, your go-to picky bits, mouth-watering fruits and naughty treats. My favourite is a big salad bowl with crumbled feta, rocket, and watermelon!"
